The Count-Down is ON: Start Preparing For Rumble On The Reef 2022
RUMBLE ON THE REEF 2022: It’s almost that time of the year again. The Street Championship 2022 and Bowlriding Championships 2022 is going ahead September 20 - 24 in Mackay’s Sugar Bowl Skatepark. Travel restrictions are lifted and skaters and families from all over Australia will travel to Mackay for a week of skateboarding and fun in the sun. Read on to get a sense of what is going on, how the competitions will be run and how to register.
Once Again Back Is The Incredible BOWLZILLA Wellington
BOWLZILLA NZ: Wellington is set to again be the Capital of Skateboarding with the return of BOWLZILLA Wellington on Saturday 29th October 2022. New Zealand’s National Bowl Skating Championships will be roaring back bigger than ever to crown the Nation’s best skaters.
Several Aussies impressed in Rome
World Street Pro Tour Rome 2022: The First World Skate Olympic Qualification event towards selection for Paris 2024 went down on 26 June - 3 July when the World Street Pro Tour came to Rome. The field was packed with experienced competition skaters and young talent booming through. Australia was represented by Shane O’Neil, Tommy Fynn and Rome Collyer in the men’s division and Liv Lovelace, Chloe Covell and Hayley Powell in women’s.
Burleigh Keg Jump 2022: Tunes Thumping, Beers Pumping, Skaters Jumping
International Go Skate Day on the Gold Coast was celebrated at the Burleigh Brewing Company, with their now annual Invitational Keg Jump on Friday 24 June 2022.
The skaters were competing for the prize money totalling $9,000, the auspicious Golden Growler Trophy and the chance to have their name added to the breweries latest craft beer creation. It’s no secret that the Golden Growler Trophy was taken out once again by Dani Campbell who cleared and landed a massive 14 kegs in front of sell-out crowd of 700.

BOWLZILLA 2022: Elanora Bowl was once again the center of the Australian park skateboarding universe when the seventh annual Bowlzilla 2022 came to the Gold Coast on Saturday 19th March. The supportive crowd witnessed impressive levels of skateboarding as the National Park Skateboarding Champions were crowned.

PIZZEY PARK OPENING EVENT: FROM HUMBLE ORIGINS TO OLYMPIC SKATEPARK
On Saturday 30 April the new Olympic standard Street Skate Park on the Gold Coast is officially opening (see info below).
On that occasion Pizzey Local Dain Bosworth has documented some current locals and delved into the history books to give Slabzoo’s readeers some conversation starters for Saturday… “Did you know Tony Hawk skated here in 1989?”…
The ASL Street Championships is Coming back to Moomba 2022 in Melbourne
MOOMBA: The 2022 Australian Skateboarding League (ASL) Street Championships is an open event with massive price pools and prices for all divisions and the chance to skate in front of the Moomba Festival crowds at Riverslide Skatepark, Melbourne.

SCHEMA Collective brought the vibes to Coorparoo Skatepark
LOCAL EVENT: Art workshops, LIVE music and skateboard demos set the vibe at Coorparoo Skatepark on Saturday 5 February as SCHEMA Collective hosted a day for everyone to come together to celebrate the creative community in South East Queensland.

Australian Skateboarding Community Initiative (ASCI) has shaken things up a bit in preparation for their 2022 year of skateboarding contests. Logan Showdown 2021 - Street Comp: Results, recap & photos
On Sunday 12 December Flagstone Skatepark set the scene for the last ASCI comp of the year. The weather was beautiful, a little less hot than at last year’s comp, the skaters were keen and the comp had flow and gnarly skating. A great end to an almost normal year of skateboard competitions. Logan Showdown is the last ASCI contest of the year. It’s a two-day skateboard celebration for all ages. Day one is a best trick extraordinaire at Beenleigh Skatepark, while day two is a proper street contest in Flagstone. Find all the comp info you need here.
Trent Riley Memorial Skate COMP 2021
On Saturday 20 November 2021 Morayfield Skatepark was a beautiful mess of skateboarding, love and fond memories for the local skateboarder, Trent Riley, who went missing on Moreton Bay, 14th. April while fishing. Trent’s family had organised the day for everyone to come together and celebrate the legend, T Buna with a skate comp. And everyone sure did.

DICKY BEACH: A tanned sunny coast crowd, a feast of street and transition skating and a storm that held it together until the last trick was traded in for cash. Dicky Beach Community Day on 30 October sure brought the park to life and left the community wanting more!

On Saturday 25 September the 2021 ASF National Street Champions were crowned after a spectacular night of skateboarding by some of Australia’s best skateboarders, juniors through to Women’s and Open’s.
