What’s on at Rumble on the Reef?

Skateboarding is part of the family friendly action sports festival Rumble on the Reef, based along the Great Barrier Reef in tropical Queensland. We will be there with bells on and hope to see a lot of you guys in Mackay for a week of fun & skateboarding.

The main skateboarding events are the Street Championships which will be held Wednesday (Qualifier), Thursday (semis) and Saturday (Final). And of course, the Bowl Championships held Friday!

Make sure not to miss the GAME OF SKATE where 16 skateboarder battle it out in a flatground Game of S.K.A.T.E. It’s brought to you by coffee skateboards.

Much more than a skateboard comp

Rumble is a week long skateboard festival and you definitely don’t have to compete to have an awesome time. It’s a community event where you can hang out, skate, chill, party, watch, cheer on your mates or go wakeboarding just across from the skatepark.

Every day there will be free learn-to-skate lessons thanks to Fulton Hogan. Make sure to sign up for these. On Tuesday head to the launch party at The Seabreeze Hotel where you can meet the skateboarders, organisers and locals - all ages are welcome. And for the over 18s - don’t forget to join the afterparty on Saturday night.

Explore Mackay

Rumble on the Reef is an action sports festival based along the Great Barrier Reef coastline in Mackay, Queensland.

Obviously, we are going for the skateboarding, but it’s actually the perfect spot for adventures of all kinds. You can explore the reef, hike through national parks, chase waterfalls in the rainforest, or relax on a picturesque beach - Mackay’s got you covered.

However, Mackay is also a paradise for action sport lovers. Only a short stroll from Sugar Bowl skatepark, you find the wake board park Wake House Mackay and if you feel like watching everything a bit from above why not try a 340 meter long flying fox through the rainforest at Finch Hatton Gorge.

In the heart of the city you can cool down in the Blue Water Lagoon before heading out for dinner or drinks at the many restaurants and bars in the charming town.

Mackay definitely offers everything you need for a family friendly holiday - and we hope to see a lot of other skateboarding families up there in September.
