MACKAY BOUND: TRISTAN MOFFAT

RUMBLE ON THE REEF: The count down is on and in less than a week Rumble on the Reef 2021 takes off in Mackay.

Brisbane skaters Jack Lewis and Tristan Moffat are both heading to Mackay to compete in Rumble and we met with them at Paddo Skatepark in Brisbane to have a little chat about their expectations and hear more about the amazing Rumble vibe.

First in line is young gun, Tristan Moffat. His progression over the past year has not only been noticed by his friends but he also scored himself a spot on the notorious Parliament Skateshop team, as one of the youngest skaters ever. Since Rumble 2020 he has competed in several ASCI competitions and landed first spots in Aura and Toowoomba. There is no doubt, Tristan is one of the skaters to put your money on for the 12 & Under podium at Rumble on the Reef 2021.

Hey Tristan, good to see you, dude. So let’s get straight to it. How many times have you competed in Rumble before?

For sure, I have competed in rumble once before, last year where I got to the finals in the 12 & under and ended on a 6th. spot.

Not bad for a first-timer. Okay, so this year, which division are you going in?

I am going into the 12 and under division for the last time, since I’m 12 now.

Rumble is only a week away. What do you do to prepare? Do you train specifically for the comp or anything else?

I don’t specifically train for Rumble, I just skate with my friends and plan out lines on the park.

Sounds good, what are you looking forward to?

I’m looking forward to meeting new people and to skate the park itself, it goes

What makes Rumble special compared to the usual comps you go in?

Compared to other comps Rumble has people coming from all around Australia and Rumble gives off amazing vibes.

Tell us a bit about your travel plans?

I will be taking a flight from Brisbane on the 20th of September to Mackay with my family, my parents booked an Airbnb for the week.

Okay, is there anything else we should know about Rumble?

They giveaway a lot of stuff to the skaters and there are a lot of different foods.

YES! We’re always keen for free stuff and good food!

Now, do you have any advice to skaters going in the comps for the first time?

If your going to rumble for the first time just think of it as any other skateboarding competition and don’t get nervous it’s all about having fun.

Thanks Tristan, we can’t wait to see you shred in Mackay.
