LOGAN SHOWDOWN 2021: On Sunday 12 December Flagstone Skatepark set the scene for the last ASCI (Australian Skateboard Committee Initiative) comp of the year. The weather was beautiful, a little less hot than at last year’s comp, the skaters were keen and the comp had flow and gnarly skating. A great end to an almost normal year of skateboard competitions.

The last street skateboarding competition of 2021 was run a little bit different than usual, as all of the juniors (12 & Under and 16 & Under) skated in the same divisions and the Open’s and Women’s likewise, yet the women skated in a separate heat to the Open’s.

The 12 & Under division looked like a win to Mike Lui as he had an absolute killer run in the preliminary heats, but in the final it was Tristan Moffat who took the win in front of Jaxon Passey in second and Jacob Hanson in third.

The 16 & under division was convincingly won by Maddox O’Reilley, while Alistair Sliz took second over Andy Dai.

The Women’s division was a good mix of established rippers and young up-and-comers. In the end, no-one came close to street queen Chloe Covel who took the win, Arisa Trew showed that she’s much more than a vert skater, put in a solid couple of runs that placed her in second spot while young ripper Abby Rose picked up her game in the best trick section and got third.

Mitchell McCarthy destroyed the rail in the Open’s best tricks and stacked those points to a certain win over young Kaedyn Collins in second and Dani Campbell in third.

And that concludes a year of skateboarding packed with somewhat normal comps. We can’t wait to see what next year has to bring.
