Burleigh Keg Jump 2022: Tunes Thumping, Beers Pumping, Skaters Jumping
International Go Skate Day on the Gold Coast was celebrated at the Burleigh Brewing Company, with their now annual Invitational Keg Jump on Friday 24 June 2022.
The skaters were competing for the prize money totalling $9,000, the auspicious Golden Growler Trophy and the chance to have their name added to the breweries latest craft beer creation. It’s no secret that the Golden Growler Trophy was taken out once again by Dani Campbell who cleared and landed a massive 14 kegs in front of sell-out crowd of 700.

GIRLS SHRED SUNNY COAST
A KOVE CREATIVE X SLABZOO COLLAB: The girls’ skate scene sure is thriving on the Sunshine Coast and the regular girls nights at the local skateparks answer for part of the success - the ‘girls only’ skate sessions create a safe and welcoming environment for female skaters of all ages and levels. The Slabzoo team joined forces with Kristen from Kove Creative, who brought her camera to document the supportive vibe and true love of skateboarding amongst the keen female skaters.
Chloe Covell and Haylie Powell To Represent Australia in Rome 2022
It’s official! Chloe Covell and Haylie Powell will represent Australia at the Skateboarding Street Pro Tour in Rome 26. June - 3. July 2022. It is the first World Skate Olympic Qualification Event (OQE) held in the two year qualification period (June 2022 - June 2024) towards selection for the Paris Olympic Games 2024.

This rad kid found the love for skateboarding just 10 months ago and has already got his kickflips down. When you watch him and his friends going hard back-to-back with a trick for the 100s time you can tell he has determination, grid and most of all fun! Zeb Ruttan is 9 years old, lives in Coolum Beach on the Sunshine coast and is a regular at Chiggy’s indoor park. Some might think he actually lives in the park. We checked in with 9-year-old Zeb.

After a rough year of injuries, Haylie Powell decided to jump on a plane to hit the skateparks in the US of A. Probably the best idea ever. At least her socials definitely makes the fomo very real - so, we checked in with Haylie to ask what’s up over there in the land of opportunity.

BOWLZILLA 2022: Elanora Bowl was once again the center of the Australian park skateboarding universe when the seventh annual Bowlzilla 2022 came to the Gold Coast on Saturday 19th March. The supportive crowd witnessed impressive levels of skateboarding as the National Park Skateboarding Champions were crowned.

Pizzey Park Street Upgrade is OPEN!
It’s official, the Gold Coast now has a world-class, Olympic standard street skatepark. On Saturday 30. April 2022 the much anticipated $5.6 million upgrade to Pizzey skatepark opened to the public and it happened in true Goldie party style. The Grand Opening event attracted a huge crowd, hungry to finally hit that fresh crete and enjoy the fun entertainment and activities, incl. LIVE music, food trucks, bowl comp, rock climbing and skate demos, all afternoon. Feel the vibe from the photos here.
PIZZEY PARK OPENING EVENT: FROM HUMBLE ORIGINS TO OLYMPIC SKATEPARK

Move over! This 7-year old goofie footer does not let anything hold her back. She is a bundle of energy, speed talker and has made a lot of besties through skateboarding. Slabzoo saw her drop in at the LevelUp vert ramp as it was just another day at the office (not sure she even stopped chit chatting at that point) and we were pretty impressed. We checked in with 7-year-old fearless multi tasker Lulu Phoenix Russel from Palm Beach on the Goldie.
ASL National Street Championships 2022: Recap, Results & Photos
MOOMBA: On the weekend of 12. and 13. March the ASL National Street Champions of 2022 were found after two days of skateboard mayhem at Riverslide Skatepark in Melbourne, as part of the Moomba Festival by the Yarra River. The junior divisions made it very clear that the future of Australian street skateboarding is looking blazingly bright while the Open’s didn’t hold back and took it up a notch.

Ruby Trew: Not your average teenager
Ruby Trew was only 12 years old when she locked in her title as the Women’s ASF Australian Park Skating Champion 2021 with a 540 McTwist at BOWLZILLA 2021 on the Gold Coast.
We checked in with her to hear what she’s been up to the past year - and learn what life’s like when you’re still too young to drive a car but already an experienced elite athlete with titles galore, dreams of the Olympics and a full-time high school study to take care of.
