It’s official! Chloe Covell and Haylie Powell will represent Australia at the Skateboarding Street Pro Tour in Rome 26. June - 3. July 2022. It is the first World Skate Olympic Qualification Event (OQE) held in the two year qualification period (June 2022 - June 2024) towards selection for the Paris Olympic Games 2024.

Chloe Covell and Haylie Powell are both supported by Queensland Academy of Sport. They train together regularly and receive coaching from professional skateboarder Tommy Fynn.

Earlier this year 12-year-old Chloe Covell entered the world skateboarding stage and impressed everyone when she won bronze at X-Games Japan 2022 - her first international comp ever. After Rome she will once again travel overseas to the US to join the Dew Tour in Les Moines on 30. July.

Haylie Powell has been out with injuries most of last year, but if you’ve seen her latest clips there’s no doubt she’s back in business and she’s hungry to compete with and against her international friends again.

Both girls have made it clear that they are looking further ahead - towards the 2024 Olympics - so the Skateboarding Street Pro Tour Rome 2022 will potentially get them closer to baguettes and Olympic participation in Paris. Besides Rome, there will be one additional Olympic Qualification Event in 2022, the RIO World Skate Street World Championships 2022 by STU - Rio De Janeiro.

It will no doubt be an incredible experience and the Slabzoo team wishes Chloe and Haylie an amazing trip. Once we have all the info, we will keep you all posted on when and where to stream the competition - so the girls can feel all the love beaming from Australia.
