Shredder check-in: Zeb Ruttan
This rad kid found the love for skateboarding just 10 months ago and has already got his kickflips down. When you watch him and his friends going hard back-to-back with a trick for the 100s time you can tell he has determination, grid and most of all fun! Zeb Ruttan is 9 years old, lives in Coolum Beach on the Sunshine coast and is a regular at Chiggy’s indoor park. Some might think he actually lives in the park. We checked in with 9-year-old Zeb.
Shredder check-in: Lulu Phoenix Russell
Move over! This 7-year old goofie footer does not let anything hold her back. She is a bundle of energy, speed talker and has made a lot of besties through skateboarding. Slabzoo saw her drop in at the LevelUp vert ramp as it was just another day at the office (not sure she even stopped chit chatting at that point) and we were pretty impressed. We checked in with 7-year-old fearless multi tasker Lulu Phoenix Russel from Palm Beach on the Goldie.
Shredder check-in: Lexi Pascoe
You’ll often find her carving the bowl at Alex skatepark with her freshly cut mullet blowing in the wind. Move over, boys! She started skating at 7, entered her first competition at Rumble on the Reef ‘21 and her progression and support for fellow skaters this past year has been amazing. We checked in with 9-year-old Lexi Pascoe from the Sunshine Coast.
Shredder check-in: Tigar Halliday
He can balance a spoon on his nose for a very long time an who knows where that can take him! This 14-year old is also always bringing good vibes and hype to the skatepark around Brisbane. We’ve checked i with Tigar Haliday!
SLABZOO SHREDDER: Bailan Jones
He loves the freedom and creativity involved i skateboarding - and you can tell by his style of skating. Always finding challenging street spots or charging in bare feet around the park. No wonder Slabzoo photographer Dain Bosworth calls him a young Jay Adams! 12-year-old Bailan Jones from Burleigh Waters on the Gold Coast is our Slabzoo Shredder. Give him some hype!
SLABZOO SHREDDER: Archie Simpson
He is fun and goofy - but with a natural stance. His favourite park is Paddo in Brisbane - although he lives a few 100k’s south in Lennox Heads, NSW. According to his friends, he will keep trying tricks until he lands them clean (the no grab 360 he does is worth a close look!). 11-year old Archie is our first featured Slabzoo Shredder from Northern NSW!
SLABZOO SHREDDER: ZACH RILEY
This young man is part of the dynamic duo behind Paddo Wax, a thriving local skate wax business (get your hands on their products at the counter of Parliament Skateshop). As if being a successful entrepreneur isn’t enough, he is also a pretty decent skateboarder himself. Zach Riley is our new Slabzoo Shredder.
SLABZOO SHREDDER: BEAU WATERSON
This 7-year-old Sunny Coast skater has street written all over him. What his friends would say about him? “LOVE” he states. Street & Love — need we say more? He rides a tiny little 7” board that allows him to pop BS 180s with ease. He hits ledges, rails and stairs until his pants are ripped! Beau Waterson is our new Slabzoo Shredder.
SHREDDER OF THE WEEK: ARISA TREW
This 10-year-old Gold Coast based skater girl rides the bowl with such power, confidence and flow that you just gotta stop and watch her. Her smile is pretty contagious too! You will often find her ripping at Pizzey skatepark with her girlfriends who all push each other to skate harder while goofing around and having the best time. Skating at the X-games is her big dream and here at Slabzoo we can definitely see that happen. Goofy footer Arisa Trew is our new Slabzoo Shredder.
SHREDDER OF THE WEEK: NOA BARNES
The kids on the Sunny coast are notorious for their mad skateboarding skills. Noa Barnes is no exception. This 11-year-old ripper basically calls Alex Skatepark his second home and loves skating with his friends at the local or at his favourite, Mackay’s Sugar Bowl. Noa Barnes is Slabzoo's Shredder of The Week!
SHREDDER OF THE WEEK: LUKA KOTZE
If you wanna talk about rapid progression in skateboarding, you cannot go past Luka Kotze. He came outta nowhere 14 months ago when he picked up his skateboard for the first time and hasn’t looked back since. He constantly goes bigger and harder and has grown into a full-blown dedicated skater - who just wants to skate and meet new friends for as long as he can. Luka Kotze is Slabzoo's Shredder of The Week!
SHREDDER OF THE WEEK: Tully Burke
You know a skater rips when the whole park will stop and watch him skate. This is what happens when 12-year old Tully Burke is tearing up the bowl at Alex Headlands in the Sunny Coast! Tully is all about passing on the love of skating. He loves helping kids learn to skate is often helping out at lessons or school holiday programs. What a young legend. Tully Burke is Slabzoo's Shredder of The Week!
SHREDDER OF THE WEEK: MEL NOGUEIRA CORREA
She only moved to the Gold Coast from Perth a couple of months ago but is already a solid part of the Gold Coast skateboard community. It’s easy to tell why. She’s a social butterfly and her positive attitude rubs off on everyone around her. So just be aware, if you skate with Mel, you’ll do it with a huge smile on your face! And oh yeah, she’s also ripping after only one year on the board. Mel is this week’s Shredder!
SHREDDER OF THE WEEK: NICO LOUBER
Who is this kid? He arrives at Bracken Ridge skatepark and completely rips it apart. Fakie shuvits, 5050 grinds, fakie bigspins, backside crooks, huge gaps and what-not! With a can-do attitude and a huge smile on his face this kid is going skateboard places. His name is Nico Louber, he is 7-years-old and is this week’s shredder on Slabzoo.
SHREDDER OF THE WEEK: JACK ANGELL
He loves the endless possibilities of skating and you can tell from his style. There is no doubt, Jack Angell has developed into quite a stylish street and park skater. You can always find him at his local Aura Skatepark on the Sunshine Coast - Jack is often the first to arrive at the park and usually last to leave when lights are out. Young Jack is our latest shredder of the week.
SHREDDER OF THE WEEK: Sailor Allen
You can find this committed and fearless 7-year old skater girl carving bowls all over the Brisbane and Gold Coast skateparks. She dreams about competing in Bowlzilla and maybe be a coach one day. She is practising backside airs in the bowl at the moment and we’re sure she’s got this! Sailor Allen is our shredder of week!
SHREDDER OF THE WEEK: MAX HANSON
There’s more to this little goofball than meets the eye. At only 6 years old Max is already an experienced little skater with a bunch of tricks in his bag - and you can find him ripping all the SEQ skateparks with his brother and skateboard partner in crime, Jacob. His instagram name might suggest otherwise, but this kid is not sketchy at all - Max is shredder of the week!
SHREDDER OF THE WEEK: EVIE SUE WILSON
She’s our first featured micro grom, she’s only 4 years old and she already drops in with pro skater Nick Law. When she shreds her favourite skatepark Pizzey it’s all about the fun times. That’s when she doesn’t fall and hurts her butt! Her friends say she’s super brave and we totally agree - Evie is shredder of the week!
SHREDDER OF THE WEEK: Melan Love
This kid is WILD! His friends would describe him as an energizer battery, a bit crazy, but also generous and caring. He runs on vegan energy and listens to hardcore music (check out his favorite song below). And if you’re seeing a kid slamming to the concrete and bouncing back up time after time, it’s probably him. Melan Love is shredder of the week!
SHREDDER OF THE WEEK: CHIHIRO YOUNG
Her friends would describe her as weird, crazy and full of energy. If you see a skater doing handstands on her board, it might be Chihiro. She loves making new friends through skateboarding and learning new tricks. Currently trying to nail those tricky blunt to fakies! Chihiro Young is shredder of the week!
