Your guide to watch skateboarding at the Olympic Qualifier Pro Tour in Rome (From Australia)
OLYMPIC QUALIFIER: The Road to Paris 2024 is sure kicking off in style! With Rome’s Colosseum as the backdrop the first Olympic Skateboarding qualifyer is going down Wednesday 29 July - Monday 4th July 2022.
We’ve made it easy to find out when to watch (Australian time), where to watch and who to watch [just scroll down].
!!! UPDATE: ONLY THE SEMI FINALS & FINALS SATURDAY & SUNDAY WILL BE STREAMED!!!
The majority of athletes will go in the open qualifier starting Wednesday -Thursday and then the pre-seeded skaters will go straight to the quarter finals starting Friday. The Tokyo 2020 medallists and top five ranked athletes will skip the open qualifier stage and will be pre-seeded directly into the quarterfinals.
In the qualifiers and in the quarter finals each skater will get 2 x 45 second runs. Best run counts! In the semis and finals the athletes will have 2 x 45 second runs and 5 best tricks. The best run combined with the two best tricks count.
Here at Slabzoo HQ we super excited to see Chloe Covell and Haylie Powell represent Australia and of course Tommy Fynn who will not only compete but also coach the girls and help nail their killer runs. And we have even more females to cheer for! Hayley Wilson and Liv Lovelace are competing too [UPDATE: Hayley Wilson took the tough decision to pull out due to mental helath issues. We wish you all the best Hayley].
It’s a pleasant surprise that Rome Collyer, aka littledragon_22, is giving it a shot in Rome. We’ll also keep an eye on Matt Markland from NZ! He recently moved to Queensland to get into the skate shape of his life and we’ve seen him RIP at comps around the SEQ Parks. We wish them all the best of luck!
