At the final stop of last year's SLS tour Chloe Covell took home silver, while Rayssa Leal secured her third consecutive title with a dominant display of consistency. Chloe's impressive debut has led many to speculate whether she could be the one to challenge Rayssa for the top podium. SLS recently announced on an Instagram post that “Chloe will be looking for her first ever SLS win on April 29th in Chicago!” and fans are eagerly anticipating her performance.

Aside from Rayssa, the female side of the competition features a formidable Japanese lineup comprising Momiji Nishiya, Funa Nakayama, Yumeka Oda, and Dutch skater Roos Zwetsloot. Meanwhile, on the men's side, 20 skaters, including Nyjah Huston, Yuto Horigome, Aurelien Giraud, Zion Wright, Jagger Eaton, and more, are all vying for the top spot and hoping to challenge last year's Super Crown winner, Gustavo Ribeiro.

NEW STOPS, NEW FORMAT

This year, the SLS is shaking things up by introducing a new format and visiting new locations. They will be making their Sydney debut in October for the third stop of the tour, which has generated a lot of excitement among Australian fans.

As for the format, the 2023 tour will showcase a blend of handpicked skateboarders and a rotating roster of participants throughout the season. With more ways to qualify than ever before, spectators can expect to see different skaters at every stop.

The most significant change this year is the introduction of a one-day event. The Men's Knock-Out Round will feature five skaters in each heat, with the top skater from each advancing to the Finals. The event will culminate with the Women's Final and the Men's Final, marking the first time the SLS has organized a one-day event in this format.

Sean Malto and Paul Rodriguez explains the new format in this youtube video.
