Burleigh Keg Jump 2022: Tunes Thumping, Beers Pumping, Skaters Jumping

International Go Skate Day on the Gold Coast was celebrated at the Burleigh Brewing Company, with their now annual Invitational Keg Jump on Friday 24 June 2022.

The skaters were competing for the prize money totalling $9,000, the auspicious Golden Growler Trophy and the chance to have their name added to the breweries latest craft beer creation. It’s no secret that the Golden Growler Trophy was taken out once again by Dani Campbell who cleared and landed a massive 14 kegs in front of sell-out crowd of 700.

BOWLZILLA 2022: Elanora Bowl was once again the center of the Australian park skateboarding universe when the seventh annual Bowlzilla 2022 came to the Gold Coast on Saturday 19th March. The supportive crowd witnessed impressive levels of skateboarding as the National Park Skateboarding Champions were crowned.

Pizzey Park Street Upgrade is OPEN!

It’s official, the Gold Coast now has a world-class, Olympic standard street skatepark. On Saturday 30. April 2022 the much anticipated $5.6 million upgrade to Pizzey skatepark opened to the public and it happened in true Goldie party style. The Grand Opening event attracted a huge crowd, hungry to finally hit that fresh crete and enjoy the fun entertainment and activities, incl. LIVE music, food trucks, bowl comp, rock climbing and skate demos, all afternoon. Feel the vibe from the photos here.

PIZZEY PARK OPENING EVENT: FROM HUMBLE ORIGINS TO OLYMPIC SKATEPARK

SHREDDER OF THE WEEK: ARISA TREW

This 10-year-old Gold Coast based skater girl rides the bowl with such power, confidence and flow that you just gotta stop and watch her. Her smile is pretty contagious too! You will often find her ripping at Pizzey skatepark with her girlfriends who all push each other to skate harder while goofing around and having the best time. Skating at the X-games is her big dream and here at Slabzoo we can definitely see that happen. Goofy footer Arisa Trew is our new Slabzoo Shredder.

BOWLZILLA: THE GIRLS KICKED IT OFF!

BOWLZILLA. The wicked week of skateboarding on the Gold Coast was kicked off with an all-girls Learn to ride Clinic hosted by Yeah Girl in Tugun Skatepark on Tuesday 8 March 2021. 13-year old Freddie Arnold is one of 8 skaters on the Jezebel skateboard team. He came 2nd in last year’s Bowlzilla Gold Coast and this year he’s back to compete in the electric atmosphere at the Elanora Bowl. She only moved to the Gold Coast from Perth a couple of months ago but is already a solid part of the Gold Coast skateboard community. It’s easy to tell why. She’s a social butterfly and her positive attitude rubs off on everyone around her. So just be aware, if you skate with Mel, you’ll do it with a huge smile on your face! And oh yeah, she’s also ripping after only one year on the board. Mel is this week’s Shredder!
