SHREDDER OF THE WEEK: NIXON COOK
His rail game is second to none — and he is definitely one to look out for. 9-year old Nixon Cook started skating at the age of 3 and loves hitting his local park Cotto with friends and family. Nixon Cook is this week’s Slabzoo Shredder.
What’s your favourite thing about skating?
It’s just fun!

My local favourite is Joel McIlroy, international favourite is Kader Sylla
What do you do when you're not skateboarding?
Watching skateboarding or at the beach
Your favourite skateboarding spot?
Cotto, library [in Cleveland], anywhere!
The hardest trick to learn?
So far, heelflips took a while and still sketchy
What was the first trick you learned

What are you practicing at the moment?
Backslide flip and frontside boardslides
What do you dream about doing with skateboarding?
Skating until I’m old and maybe get sponsored one day
What’s your best skate memory?
Every weekend, skating with my family and friends
What’s your worst slam?
Broke my arm at Cotto [Geez, Nixon. That must have hurt]
Favourite song?
Uhm, maybe ‘The Scotts’ - I don’t know… I listen to everything

Skater XL
Do you have a weird or hidden talent?
I like to backflip off things but that’s not really weird or hidden, I guess

I’m not funny!
What's your best advice to kids who’ve just started skateboarding?
Throw out your scooter and grow a mullet [solid advice, Nixon]
