Sunny Skate Series: An Awesome Weekend In The Name of Skateboarding & Festival Vibes Coming Up

SUNNY SKATE SERIES: The wait is nearly over! This weekend the 8 - 9 October 2022 will see the first ever Sunny Skate Series competition go down at Alex Head Skatepark on the Sunny Coast, QLD. Mat ‘Chiggy’ Chigwidden is the man behind the madness - and for those who don’t know who this legend is we can assure you that he knows what’s up when it comes to creating fun skateboarding events - and he’s pumped for this one.

It will be a vibe for sure so get yourself, your family and your mates to The Sunny Coast for a weekend of skateboarding, music, food, drinks and bloody good times.

What’s on

Skateboarding is at the core of the weekend but there will be much more to entertain the crowd with food trucks galore, stalls, a bar, and music - all topped with the Pacific Ocean as a perfect backdrop for an great weekend out.

Pat Gemzik, most likely Australia’s best skateboarding MC, will guide and hype everyone the entire weekend and set the mood bar high while the competitors hit the skatepark as the true stars of the weekend they all are.

Meanwhile, the judge’s panel consists of no other than Jackson Pilz, Andrew Brophy and Andre Schwitter so the competitors will have pro skateboard eyes on them to make sure those tricks translate into the proper points on the board.

The notorious Santa Cruz team will be making an appearance on Sunday and rumor has it that Ethan Copeland will be flying high above the Alex Bowl coping in an attempt to beat local bowl hitters like Freddie Arnold and Lukas Byers in a massive battle for the first ever Sunny Skate Series bowl title and cool cash money prices.

Speaking of prices. There will be cash prices for the Open’s divisions in both street and bowl, while the junior divisions can win heaps of awesome prices from solid sponsors like Vans, JBL, Yeti and Santa Cruz.
