NEW DICKY BEACH SKATE PARK IS OPEN
The much anticipated Dicky Beach Skatepark in Caloundra is open - ahead of schedule. Grinds on pool coping mixed over breaking waves is the new soundtrack for this legendary beach spot. The skatepark’s design was decided by a popular vote in a community survey in 2019 and it doesn’t disappoint - there’s something for all levels and styles of skaters. We checked in on Sunday afternoon where skaters, roller skaters, families and friends brought the new skatepark to life.
A kidney bowl with 70’s style pool coping and tiles, a mini ramp with steel coping, beginner-friendly hubbas and ledges, a long round down rail and a eurogap are just some of the features in the new skatepark.
The rails and the ledges are just a little bit smaller than many other parks, which make it great for skaters of all abilities.
With the beach and a few cafés a few steps away, it’s a great spot for a day out with the fam.
The skatepark is part of a bigger council project to improve connectivity between Dicky Beach Skate Park, Dicky Beach Holiday Park, the beach and the surf & lifesaving clubhouse.
According to a few of the younger skaters we met, Dicky is a new favourite!
