Beginners

Skateboard lessons are a great way to get introduced to skateboarding. You will quickly and safely learn the basic technique that will get you skating comfortably in no time.

Starting out with skate lessons will ensure that you, or your child, learn skateboarding correct from the start, without getting any bad habits – and do so in a controlled, safe environment.

Besides actual skateboarding, a good beginner skate coach will also teach you the art of falling. Because a skateboarder has to be able to fall without getting hurt (too much).

At the beginner level students will learn to push correctly, do tic-tacs, get the balance right, start learning ollies and skating small ramps and obstacles.

Intermediate/advanced

When skaters step on from the beginner levels, most skaters will now master the ollie and have developed into a confident skater. It is time to learn more technical tricks and get into the flow of skating entire skateparks incl. bigger transitions (ramps).

Adults

Yes, adults can – and should – get skate lessons too.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or you’ve just dusted off the old board and wants to get back into the skating game, skateboard lessons will always be a good idea.

Any good skateboard coach will make sure that you don’t rush and learn (or relearn) in a safe pace adjusted to your individual level.

It’s never too late. Seriously!

Where?

Skateboard lessons take place in skateparks around Brisbane. If you join a group lesson it will be in a designated skatepark e.g. Paddington Skatepark. If you book a private lesson, you and your coach will agree on a skatepark that suits your level and mood.

Format

To get the full benefit of skate lessons it is recommended to do more than a single lesson once in a while. However, depending on level, age and personality there are several different types of lessons to choose from.

Group lessons

Group lessons are a great way to learn skateboarding and make friends at the same time.

Group lessons are often term based, which give the coach and students the chance to get comfortable with each other and improve on

A good coach will make a plan for the students to help them progress towards their next individual levels.

Private lessons

Private lessons are tailored to the individual student. The lessons are more intense and personal than group lessons, since the coach can focus completely on the one student’s ability and needs.

They are excellent for advancing on specific tricks or just to give you a serious all-over skate boost.

Day-tours

Every skater’s dream. An entire day of skating with a bunch of skate friends and coaches. Day-tours are super social and fun trips. They take a mini-bus full of skaters on a 8-9 hours tour to 3-5 different skateparks in and around Brisbane.

On a typical day-tour the students get some one-on-one coaching, a lot of group skating and lunch, snacks and drinks are included in the price.
